The year is coming to a close and we tend to look back at what has happened over the past 12 months. We had our ups and down this year like everyone does. Everything in a person’s life can be thought of as an adventure.
It can hard to think about all what happened over a year. Sometimes we are busy, life is a blur.
Money Adventures–We fell way behind in our mortgage payments. We were close to foreclosure. There were fights between my husband and I. We are back on schedule now. He now handles the money for the mortgage and the power bill. When it is time, he hands it over and I pay right then. Communication is a big part of a marriage, especially paying bills.
I spent a great deal of time at the hospital visiting my dad as he was in and out of the hospital this past year. He is doing much better now.
Water adventures — In May, our washing machine malfunctioned. We had about 5 inches or so of water throughout most of the basement. It was a struggle till around July with the insurance and the mortgage company to get it fixed. Our basement had paneling that was dated to the 70’s I am sure. It was ruined. We put up drywall to replace it. Our water heater was ruined. It was hard getting the money for it because it was considered under the house. We went a number of days without hot water. Our basement looks great now, but it just makes us want to update more parts of the house now.
My job outside the home– I made it to the one year mark and past working at the hospital. I work 3-12 hour shifts a week. Sometimes I pick up an extra night per pay period. I try not to work 3 nights in a row. My husband misses me so, and makes comments like “I haven’t seen you much”. I have also worked as a substitute teacher assistant in a local school district.
I have continued to blog this year. I was surprised when I added up through the year my income I have earned. I actually earned over $500. I didn’t realize it was that much. I learned new skills. I proved to myself that the harder I work the more success comes from it. My blog was Frugal and Coupon Crazy. I also had another blog that was called Midwest Lady Thoughts. It was just me writing about life and St. Louis things. I didn’t blog much on it as much as I really should have. I felt I wanted to blog about my family if I wanted to. I wanted to continue to promote St. Louis events and the area. Then it came to me to change my blog title totally to Frugal Family Adventures. With this title, I am able to share frugal tips, deals, family times. We live close to St. Louis so anything involved with St. Louis would fall under adventures and most likely family. I changed my title along with the design of the blog. I started using Tailwind for Pinterest this year. Pinterest is one of my highest referrals for my blog.
Can’t wait to see what 2017 holds for us.
