For many years growing up around where I live, people will talk about the Bald eagles. I live in Illinois, very close to the Mississippi River. Growing up my parents would take our family on drives down the river road and I would point out the eagles. So we be pulling over on the side of the road very often. My dad would call me Eagle Eyes. I had even gone on a bird and eagle count one time too. I have always loved the bald eagle and how majestic they are while glide through the sky.
During the winter, there are many ways to see a bald eagle in this area.
** Driving down the river road and seeing them on your own. Look on the ice or look towards the tops of trees and the top of the cliffs. Their are even books to tell you exactly where the places are to see an eagle.
** Eagle Meet and Greet times at the visitor center in Alton every Saturday in the Winter
** Or other various bird and eagle events at the Audubon center at Riverlands
If you need something to do with the family on a cold Sunday afternoon, how about checking the bald eagles out in the Alton area. This would be a great educational time for the family. Maybe also a great picture opportunity time as well. There is something to do in the Alton area almost every weekend to see the eagles. Be sure to dress warm. Bring binoculars and camera to maybe a get a picture of nation’s beautiful bird.
