Most counties or districts will allow you to be a substitute teacher. Sometimes a substitute teacher may only need a certain amount of college credits. Some districts will train you to drive a bus because they need drivers.
*** Comfortable or warm clothes — As a teacher or aide, you may find yourself sitting on the floor reading to kids. Heels would not be a good idea. One may have recess duty, it can get cold or windy outside, so a good coat and gloves are needed.
*** Bring extra ideas or things for the kids to do. As you may run out of things for them to do. Words finds, or puzzles and game ideas are good. As a substitute you will not be familiar with what the teacher has in her room. Be prepared for extra time in the day.
*** Bring something for yourself to do like a book. Teacher may have prep time and you will find yourself with nothing to do.
*** Sometimes it can be useful to bring some candy as a bribe for the kids to be quiet.
