Breakfast is one of the most important parts of the day. It starts your day off so you are awake for the rest the day. Just because you son is a teenager and they can make their own breakfast does not mean you stop making it for them. Have you really noticed what your teenager is eating for breakfast in the morning? Pop tarts, protein bar or maybe nothing at all. Would it really be a big deal if you took an extra half an hour or less to make them breakfast?
- A good breakfast made with love is the most important part of the day. It will give you teenagers the energy they need to get stay alert in classes at school. Think about what your child has run out the door with in a hurry, a pop tart maybe. Or maybe they didn’t have any breakfast at all.
- When breakfast is served, your teenager is sitting across the table from you eating and you should be bonding with them. Sometimes it is hard to get in a good conversation with a teenager between school activities or with friends. This is the time when you should be talking about grades, classwork, or just have a chat with them. My schedule is hit and miss with my son so when I do make breakfast this a good time to just talk about whatever. Think about he is stuck there eating breakfast anyway.
- Making Breakfast at home may save you money. If your teenager does not eat breakfast then at lunch time at school they will eat more and your school lunch account will add in cost.
My son is 15 years old, and sometimes throughout the year he is watching his due to wrestling in school. My work schedule is not the same from week to week. I work 12-hour shifts where I come after he is gone to school already. For many years, if I am home in the morning I make him breakfast. I make sure I get up early. Some of the meals I have made him have been pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs, cinnamon rolls or monkey bread. He has always loved money bread. Sometimes there will be some left over so he will eat it when he gets home from school as a snack. I feel it is my mom duty to make him breakfast when I am able to. It may feel weird when he says he doesn’t want breakfast.
It doesn’t really matter what kind of breakfast you make for them just take a few minutes to start the day with them so they will have energy to start the day off great.
What will you be making for breakfast for your teenager? What is their favorite breakfast that you make for them?
